  • Biographical Information

    Marie-Louise-Albertine Leblanc was born in Cabano, P.Q. on November 10, 1893, daughter of Jean-Hercule Leblanc and Appoline Côté. In Cabano, on July 25, 1922, she married Pierre Valcourt, son of Joseph Valcourt and Démerise Caron. Her husband, Pierre, died August 8, 1966 at the age of 75. Marie-Louise Leblanc Valcourt died November 29, 1977 in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, P.Q. Marcel Valcourt, her grandson, says that Louise-Marie was a school teacher. She liked to read, pray, and visit with her sisters and was certainly interested in history, especially the history of her parish.
  • Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of a typescript of "Louise-Marie Le Blanc Valcour: ma paroisse, 1880-1972”, written by Louise-Marie Le Blanc Valcour. The document was written to commemorate the fifty years, 1922-1972, of the parish of Saint-Benoit Abbé, located in Packington in the province of Quebec not far from the New Brunswick boundary. The document was never published. Starting from 1880, it contains historical facts; highlights of the parish; culture and folklore of the people that were to be forgotten, as per Louise-Marie.
