  • Biographical Information

    George E. L. Roy was bornMay 21, 1918 in Fort Kent, Maine, the son of Gilbert O. Roy and Ella Michaud. Mr. Roy served in the Marine Corps, attached to VMSB-236 1 st Marine Aircraft Wing in the Pacific Theater. Following his discharge, he returned to Fort Kent, where he owned and operated Roy’s Auto Electric for many years. He was an artist, a cantor for the St. Louis Catholic Church, and a singer in the St. Louis Funeral Choir. He married Evelyn May Thomas, who predeceased him 30 June 1994. Mr. Roy died at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, Maine on 23 May 1999. [Archives Director Lisa Ornstein gathered the following information from correspondence with Robert D.   • Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of an audio recording of an interview by Paul Theriault with World War II veteran George E.L. Roy of Fort Kent, Maine. Roy discusses his war reminiscences. The recording was created by Paul Theriault as a class assignment for a History course with Professor Roger Paradis that he completed in Fall 1987 entitled History 353: History of Maine.
