  • Biographical Information

Willard Jalbert, Jr. was the custom officer in Fort Kent. His parents lived in Fort Kent; Willard Jalbert, Sr. was a guide in the Allagash.

Eddy Doucette and his wife lived in Van Buren, Maine.
  • Scope and Contents

This collection consists of interviews on two 7” reels by Sylvia Collin for a course, CP80, she was taking at the University of Maine at Fort Kent during the summer of 1964. Also included in the collection are interview transcripts created by the Acadian Archives staff. In the first interview, she speaks to Willard Jalbert, Jr. at the immigration office in Fort Kent. Although the interview transcript contains the date October 25th, as the class was during the summer and the other interviews have summer dates, this is most likely incorrect. Also included on the first reel is a second interview with Belone Pelletier of Fort Kent, dated October 26, 1964. The second reel contains an interview with Willard Jalbert Jr.  parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Jalbert, Sr., at their home on Main Street in Fort Kent, July 26, 1964. The second  interview on the second reel is with Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Doucette of Van Buren. The interviews all concern family and home life, as well as life in the Saint John Valley.
