Lucien Lausier photography collection

Born in Madawaska in 1916, Lucien Lausier spent his life in Aroostook County. In 1935, he graduated as president of his class at Danforth High School and attended the Aroostook State Normal School in Presque Isle until 1939. He worked as a teacher in Lavertu Settlement and married Anita Jandreau in 1940, with whom he would have six children. In 1942, he was drafted into the military, where he served in the Navy for three years. Upon returning, he was hired as a laborer at the Fraser Paper Mill in Madawaska, eventually retiring in 1981 as a maintenance superintendent. Throughout his life, he was deeply involved with local organizations and held membership in the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Parish Council at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, and the Madawaska School board. Photography became a hobby of his during retirement until his death in 1999.
