Bertha Voisine braided rug

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of one multicolored oval braided rug made by Bertha Bouley Voisine. All the braid strips are a half inch wide when doubled and are machine sewn prior to braiding and lacing of the rug. The middle part of the rug has some red, white, and blue colors and the outer part of the rug has some red, purple, and gray colors. It measures 35 inches x 21 inches.

Catalogne chemin d’escalier/stair runner

This collection consists of one catalogne (material woven from strips of old colored fabrics). This catalogne was woven by the Cercle de fermières de la Durantaye, a region in the province of Quebec, and was made to be used as a stair runner. The catalogne measures 19 feet long by 22 inches wide with raspberry red, beige, green, and blue colors. It was bought by the Acadian Archives to be part of their permanent collection.

Laurel Daigle hooked rug of Fort Kent blockhouse

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of one hooked rug of the Fort Kent Blockhouse made by Mr. Laurel Daigle of Fort Kent, Maine in 1991. The year 1839, the letters L. D. 91 and the words Fort Kent Block House are displayed on the hooked rug. The rug is framed in dark blue with white stars all around. The blockhouse is of different shades of brown with a background of light blue, light green, and beige. The rug measure 37.5 inches by 30 inches.

Laurette Lausier Doucette patchwork quilt

This collection consists of one patchwork quilt made by Laurette Doucette in the 1990s. One side of the quilt is of multicolored pieces and the reverse side or the backing is of a solid chocolate brown color. The quilt is made of multiple 9.5 x 9.5 inch squares. There are different geometric pieces of material of different colors within a square. The material used for the quilt is polyester. The quilt measures 80 inches by 86 inches and is like new.

Lillie Hebert Gagnon patchwork blanket

This collection consists of one patchwork blanket made by Lillie Hebert Gagnon when she was 98 years old. The squares used for the blanket are of different materials and different colors and measure 7 inches by 7 inches. The blanket measures 69 inches by 48.5 inches. It is in very good condition.

Wilfred Dumont engraved sketch on wood of the Fort Kent blockhouse

Scope and Contents This collection consists of an engraved sketch of the Fort Kent Blockhouse on a round piece of softwood, probably pine, made by Wildred Dumond in 1960. The area is also engraved with the name Fort Kent State Normal School Est. 1878. The circumference has a rope-like engraving measuring a half-inch wide. The piece measures about 14.5 inches in diameter and is ¾ of an inch thick and has a golden tone with some preservative. The reverse side has the name of Wilfred R. Dumont ’60 engraved in...
